The Role:
This is one of the most important and exciting roles in the organisation. In short, you decide how to build what and which resources are suited. You will take the idea and brief from the product manager, brainstorm with the team and come up with the ideal development plan. You will interact closely with the leadership team and the founders.
You will architect & implement complex, highly available and scalable solutions. You will work with bleeding-edge technologies like Go, Kafka, Tensorflow and SageMaker.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Principal Software Engineer will include the following:
● To lead a software engineering team, reporting to the Head of Engineering
● To design, develop & deliver high-quality software components
● To design and develop high-volume, high-performance, high-availability applications using bleeding edge Open-Source frameworks and technologies
● To liaise with the product manager and technical architect to explore and suggest appropriate technical solutions to achieve the required product features as well as monitoring technical progress against plans. While safeguarding functionality, scalability and performance
● To ensure consistent use of shared platform components and technologies.
● To design and develop reusable libraries and APIs for use across the engineering team
● To contribute to best practice for Open Source application development at the ITILITE
● To write unit and integration tests, within automated test environments to ensure code quality
● To assist in defining the team's technical strategy and advising on product roadmaps and migration plans to achieve strategic goals
● Build proof of concepts and early prototypes systems and scaling it to production.
● Independently research and appraise the Principal Architect
● Do the critical problem solving, so the developers can leverage it in day to day implementation.
Competencies Required:
The candidate should have the following competencies:
1. S/He should have worked in a product based company and have experience in both front-end, API and the database/storage layer.
2. Strong skills in Core PHP, MySQL, CSS, HTML5, jQuery, JavaScript, AJAX, Bootstrap, Web Services, JSON.
3. Strong skills in Python/Golang/Node.Js and experience in API chaining or wrapper development.
4. Have worked in analytics or reporting engines
5. Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers.
6. Build efficient, testable, and reusable PHP modules.
7. Design, code, test, debug and document software according to functional requirements.
8. Solve complex performance problems and architectural challenges.
9. Integration of data storage solutions may include databases, key-value stores, blob stores, etc.
